Rawalakot (Pakistan News) — In Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, armed elements have established positions in various buildings and started targeting security forces, following which law enforcement agencies have launched an operation.
Police spokesperson SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat confirmed during a press conference that armed groups are hiding inside buildings; however, security forces are carrying out an effective operation against them.
He stated that one Rangers personnel was martyred during the attack, while several armed individuals have been arrested along with modern weapons during the operation.
SSP Khawar Ali Shaukat said that these elements have links elsewhere and are attempting to disrupt the peaceful environment of Azad Kashmir. He added that security institutions are also aware of negative propaganda being spread on social media.
He made it clear that strict action will be taken against those challenging the writ of the state. He said that state institutions have always shown restraint; however, attacks on security personnel will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Police and other law enforcement agencies have expressed their determination to restore peace and order in the area and complete action against armed groups.
