Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): In view of the possible PTI long march, security arrangements have been further tightened in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock, while the deployment of additional personnel and the placement of containers on standby along key roads are underway.
According to sources, preparations have been made to deploy more than 22,000 personnel in Islamabad, who will be supervised by 8 DIGs, 10 SSPs, 40 SPs, 58 DSPs and 246 inspectors. More than 13,000 personnel are being deployed in Rawalpindi, while 30,000 personnel are being deployed in Attock.
Additional police personnel from various districts of Punjab have started being transferred to Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Attock. Rawalpindi Police has been given a target of taking 350 containers into custody, while containers have already been placed on standby along major roads in the twin cities.
A survey of more than 100 buildings has been completed in Islamabad to accommodate the additional personnel. Arrangements will be made to house the additional personnel at the Sports Complex, Pak-China Friendship Centre and educational institutions, while similar arrangements are also being made in Rawalpindi and Attock.
According to sources, leaves of Rawalpindi Police personnel have already been cancelled in view of the possible long march.
