Rawalpindi (Pakistan News): On the 14th day of the September 1965 war, an Indian major general’s diary recovered from the Lahore front revealed surprising facts about the war.
During the war, the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force continued strong operations against the enemy on various fronts, inflicting heavy losses on the Indian forces.
The diary mentions orders issued to the Indian Army regarding the war and also reveals that the Indian armed forces were used as pawns in a struggle for power.
According to diplomatic sources in New Delhi, the poor performance of the Indian Army against Pakistan had become a major crisis for the government.
On the popular Makbulpur front in Lahore, the Pakistan Army foiled an Indian attack and killed 150 Indian soldiers, while the enemy fled, leaving behind twice as many wounded soldiers.
On the Gadru front, Pakistani troops captured an Indian post and took 35 personnel, including an Indian officer, as prisoners of war.
On September 14, another 11 Indian fighter aircraft were destroyed, bringing the total number of Indian aircraft destroyed to 80. Five Indian tanks were also destroyed.
Despite being fewer in number, Pakistan Air Force pilots demonstrated their professional expertise and proved their superiority over the enemy.
