Karachi (Commerce Desk) — Significant progress has been made regarding the commercial sale of gas discovered in Spin Wam, located in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the bidding process for gas purchase has been completed.
Mari Energies Limited has issued a Letter of Award for gas purchase to the successful bidder, Universal Gas Distribution Company, after completing a transparent bidding process.
In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company stated that the tender for the sale of gas produced from the Spin Wam gas discovery was issued on May 15, 2026, after which the bidding process was completed according to the prescribed procedure.
According to Mari Energies, 17.5 million cubic feet of gas per day will be sold from the Spin Wam gas field. The company clarified that the supply and sale of gas will be carried out under the “Framework for Sale of Gas to Third Parties” issued by the Government of Pakistan on January 7, 2025.
The development is being considered an important step for the energy sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and is expected to increase the commercial utilization of locally produced gas.
