Twin explosions in Bannu, 7 people killed, second blast during rescue operations

Bannu (Pakistan News) In the semi-tribal area of Barghanto in Bannu, two consecutive explosions resulted in the death of 7 people, while 3 others were injured.

According to District Police Officer Yasir Afridi, the first explosion occurred within the jurisdiction of Ahmedzai police station when a Datsun vehicle full of passengers was passing nearby, while a second blast also took place during rescue operations.

He said that the passengers in the affected vehicle belonged to the Hathi Khel tribe, while the bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. Children are also among the injured.

According to the DPO, security forces have cordoned off the area and started collecting evidence, and a search operation is also underway.

During the incident, the vehicle of Tehsildar Sub-Division Wazir Abidullah also came under the impact of the blast; however, he remained safe.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the incident and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives. The Prime Minister directed immediate medical treatment for the injured and ordered a transparent investigation, stating that terrorism is a conspiracy against humanity and national peace, which will be defeated at all costs.
