Kyiv (Monitoring Desk) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that if Russia also agrees to halt attacks in the same manner, Ukraine is prepared to refrain from targeting certain sites.
According to international media, in a statement on the social media platform X, Zelenskyy said that if partners are prepared to guarantee that Russia will genuinely refrain from attacking Ukraine’s electricity system, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure and routes used to transport food supplies, Ukraine would also stop such attacks in response.
He said any partial ceasefire must be reliable and long-term, and should remain in effect even after the elections scheduled to be held in Russia this month.
Zelenskyy stressed the need to end the war, saying that a de-escalation measure to protect critical infrastructure from attacks could be the first step toward peace.
It may be noted that US President Donald Trump had claimed that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to stop attacks on energy infrastructure.
