Washington (Monitoring Desk): Different statements from US officials regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz have sparked a new debate. The US military says the key maritime route is fully operational, while senior officials of the Trump administration have expressed hope for a possible agreement to reopen it in the future.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM), in a statement posted on the social media platform, said that despite alleged threats from Iran, the southern maritime route of the Strait of Hormuz remains open for commercial vessels.
According to CENTCOM, during the past three months, US forces have assisted more than 1,000 commercial ships in safely passing through this route.
