LEEDS (Sports Desk) – In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, West Indies defeated Scotland by 7 runs in a closely contested match.
In the match played in Leeds, the West Indies women’s team, batting first, scored 153 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Stafanie Taylor played a brilliant aggressive innings, scoring 47 runs off just 19 balls, including four fours and three sixes, while Shamilia Campbell contributed 36 runs. For Scotland, Katherine Fraser took two wickets.
In reply, Scotland looked well placed in pursuit of the target, but lost consecutive wickets in the final overs, allowing the match to slip away.
Darcey Carter played a responsible innings of 59 runs, but after her dismissal, Scotland’s batting lineup collapsed. Ailsa Lister scored 33 runs but could not guide her team to victory.
Scotland were bowled out for 146 runs in 20 overs, handing West Indies a 7-run win.
