Business community reacts to budget measures, demands further relief for salaried class

Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Business leaders in Islamabad have reacted to the budget measures, calling for additional relief for the salaried class.

Business leader SM Tanveer said that the salaried class has once again not received the expected relief and further improvements were necessary.

He added that the reduction in tax on property transactions is a commendable step, while the removal of the “late filer” category is also a positive measure. He further stated that more steps are needed for the development of the agricultural sector.

SM Tanveer also remarked that the defense budget of around Rs. 3,000 billion is a necessity under the current circumstances.

On the other hand, Atif Ikram Sheikh said that while some proposals of the business community were included in the budget, the 18 percent increase in petroleum levy is concerning.

He further said that a reduction in corporate tax had been proposed, but no significant step in that regard was included in the budget.
