Washington (Web Desk) A defunct SpaceX rocket is expected to collide with the Moon on Wednesday, producing an impact comparable to the explosive force of more than three tons of TNT.
According to experts, the collision is expected to create a new crater on the lunar surface, while a massive cloud of dust and rocks will be thrown several miles into space. Scientists and astronomers are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to observe this rare event.
The rocket has been drifting through space for more than a year and was previously used to launch two lunar landers into space.
According to space-tracking expert Bill Gray, the rocket’s upper stage is expected to strike near the Moon’s Einstein Crater at a speed of approximately 8,700 kilometers per hour, nearly seven times the speed of sound.
Experts say that although the event poses no immediate danger, it highlights the growing problem of space debris in Earth’s orbit and beyond, which could become a major challenge for future space missions.
