Lahore (Pakistan News): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to immediately respond to negative propaganda against the police, saying that making Punjab free from all forms of crime is the government's target.
In a statement, Maryam Nawaz said that a Crime Surveillance Unit had been established to make the campaign against crime more effective. Its objective is to improve the law and order situation across the province and ensure the prevention of criminal activities.
The Chief Minister said that good and bad individuals exist in every profession; however, it is inappropriate to criticise the entire police force on the basis of the mistakes of a few individuals. She said that questioning the performance of the entire force because of the conduct of a few personnel was unjustified.
Maryam Nawaz said that the decline in the crime rate in Punjab as a result of effective reforms was an encouraging development. She added that the government would continue its efforts to make the province free from crime.
