Islamabad (Pakistan News) Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said that the government is not forcing Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to stage protests or take to the streets; rather, he is moving towards confrontation himself.
Speaking on Geo News’ programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Talal Chaudhry said that an operation against encroachments in Islamabad had been underway for the past year and a half, while the notice sent to Maulana Fazlur Rehman had absolutely no connection with his current political activities.
He said that Rana Sanaullah’s statement regarding Maulana Fazlur Rehman might reflect his personal opinion. The prime minister believes that the matter could harm the government and would bring it no benefit. If the prime minister held the same view, federal ministers would not be discussing the matter concerning Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Talal Chaudhry further said that the government was not compelling Maulana Fazlur Rehman to take to the streets. Instead, he was moving towards confrontation himself and creating unnecessary bitterness.
