Europe’s €100 Billion Loss Is Nothing Compared to Iranian Casualties: Araghchi

Tehran (Monitoring Desk): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has criticised German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, saying that those who harm Iran's armed forces will face a major blow.

Araghchi said Friedrich Merz supported the US and Israeli bombing of Iran when it began, accusing the German chancellor of hypocrisy.

He said Europe's economic loss of €100 billion was insignificant compared with the losses suffered by Iran, adding that the era of red lines had now become a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called for a diplomatic solution to the conflict amid speculation about possible new US attacks on Iran. He said there was no military solution to the war and that all parties should recognise this reality.

He said Germany had an economic interest in ending the war quickly, as rising energy prices had already cost Europe more than €100 billion.

Separately, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said that most G20 countries were urging Iran to return to the negotiating table with the United States to end the war.

In a statement posted on social media, he also called on the Houthis to stop their attacks and urged Russia to refrain from threatening global food security through attacks in the Black Sea.
