Lahore (Web Desk): The Lahore High Court has adjourned until September 25 the hearing of a petition challenging the detention of Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Aleema Khan’s son, Shah Zair. The court questioned how the petition had been filed without first approaching the relevant forum.
Barrister Taimur, Irfan Kalar and Rana Mudassar Umar Advocate appeared in court on behalf of Aleema Khan. The lawyer argued that Aleema Khan’s detention was different from the other cases against her. He said that after a DIC was conducted on the same day, a detention notification was also issued, which apparently indicated that she was arrested first and the detention order was issued afterward.
The court asked whether the relevant authority had been approached. The lawyer said the detention report linked Aleema Khan to the May 9 incidents and cited fears that she could block roads again. However, he said she had already been declared innocent during the investigation into the May 9 case.
The court asked whether Aleema Khan had secured bail in all cases against her. The lawyer replied that bail was still pending in two to three cases.
Justice Abher Gul Khan remarked that a full bench of the High Court had ordered that the relevant forum must be approached first. The court also asked whether the order had been challenged before the Supreme Court.
After the lawyer sought time for preparation, the court adjourned further hearing of the petition until September 25.
