California (Web Desk): A video of a unique competition between a human and a humanoid robot in the United States has gone viral on social media.
The competition, organized by US robotics company R.E.K. in San Francisco, featured American influencer and content creator Frankie LaPenna facing a nearly six-foot-tall humanoid robot.
According to the company, the project aims to introduce a virtual reality-based sports experience in which people can remotely control humanoid robots and compete against one another.
In the viral video, the robot can be seen performing physical exercises like a professional fighter before the competition. Once the fight began, LaPenna attacked the robot with punches, while the robot responded with kicks and other powerful strikes.
R.E.K. described the competition as a major milestone and claimed on the social media platform X that it was the first fight between a human and a Terminator robot.
After the video went viral, users questioned whether traditional fighting techniques would prove effective if a professional fighter faced a robot. Some users said fighting a machine was different from fighting a human and that punches might not have the same impact on a robot as they would on a human fighter.
The competition has also renewed discussion about remotely controlled humanoid robots, virtual reality-based sports and the future relationship between humans and machines.
