Islamabad (Commerce Desk): Karachi Port has recorded a significant improvement in the global maritime connectivity index, with its connectivity score rising from 309 to a record 343 in the second quarter of 2026.
According to the data, Pakistan has moved up to 34th place in the global maritime connectivity ranking. The Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index assesses global maritime links based on data from around 900 ports worldwide.
Improved connectivity at Karachi Port is strengthening Pakistan’s links with the global maritime transportation system while also paving the way for greater access to international markets, increased trade and expanded export opportunities.
The development at Karachi Port has also been linked to the maritime reforms introduced by the task force established by the prime minister and other government initiatives.
