Tehran (Monitoring Desk): More than 439,000 undocumented Afghan citizens have been deported from Iran this year.
According to a new report by the United Nations refugee agency, 86% of the Afghan citizens returned from Iran were individuals who were living without legal documents or were unregistered.
The report said the large-scale return of Afghan citizens has increased pressure on housing, employment and basic facilities in Afghanistan, while hundreds of Afghan youths have lost their lives while attempting to reach Iran through dangerous routes.
According to economic and security experts, Afghanistan’s difficulties have increased due to the Taliban’s policies and lack of compliance with international laws, with ordinary citizens bearing the consequences.
Iran’s intensified actions against illegal movement and deportations indicate that countries in the region are taking measures against unauthorized cross-border movement in view of security concerns.
