Pakistan’s First Technical Mining Conference to Attract Billions in Investment

Karachi (Commerce Desk): Pakistan’s first Technical Mining Conference will be held in Karachi on August 6, with participation from global mining companies and the possibility of major foreign investment agreements.

Prominent mining companies from the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Germany, and China will participate in the conference, while memorandums of understanding worth billions of dollars in the mineral sector are expected to be signed.

Sindh Engro Mining Company Chief Executive Officer Amir Iqbal said that the objective of the conference is to promote global investment in Pakistan’s mineral reserves and introduce modern mining technologies.

He said that in the future, coal from Thar will be supplied to power plants across the country through the railway system, while a new railway line project for coal transportation from Thar is expected to begin at the start of next year.

According to Amir Iqbal, work on the third phase of Thar Block-II will begin next month, while the supply of Thar coal to Lucky Power Plant will also start from next month.

He said that Sindh Engro Mining Company has so far received an investment of $1.4 billion, which is an important development for Pakistan’s energy and mineral sectors.
