Islamabad (Pakistan News): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has submitted his response to the Federal Constitutional Court regarding the release force of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder.
The 8-page response was submitted to the court through the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General. It states that no organization or force has ever been established under the name of the PTI founder’s Release Force; rather, the actual initiative is a peaceful movement for the release of the PTI founder, which is continuing on an unarmed and voluntary basis.
The response states that there is no armed structure or private militia involved in the Release Peace Movement. It argues that the petition is based on political motives and incorrect facts, and has been described as premature, imaginary, and not maintainable. The response further states that the petitioner has failed to prove any violation of fundamental rights.
Sohail Afridi stated in his position that the Release Movement is protected under Articles 16, 17, and 19 of the Constitution. He said Article 256 of the Constitution does not apply to this matter, while the 1973 law regarding private military organizations is also not applicable to this movement.
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that allegations regarding threats to public order are baseless, and comparing the Release Movement with past armed organizations is misleading.
He requested the court to dismiss the constitutional petition at the initial stage and declare the ongoing peaceful movement for the release of the PTI founder as constitutional and legal.
It should be noted that the Federal Constitutional Court has scheduled the hearing of the petition filed against the PTI founder’s Release Force for July 29.
