Beijing (Web Desk): China has made significant progress in the field of space agriculture by successfully cultivating 14 different types of plants in orbit.
According to the Chinese Astronaut Center, this achievement will provide a foundation for growing crops on a larger scale aboard space stations in the future.
The development was highlighted during a space medical engineering conference held in Tianjin Municipality in northern China. Astronaut Zhang Hongzhang, associated with the crew of the Shenzhou-21 mission, also shared photographs and videos of the “space garden” established aboard the Tiangong Space Station, where carrots, lettuce and other crops are growing.
