California (Web Desk) Many Gmail users have, at some point, accidentally sent an email to the wrong person or realized a mistake immediately after hitting the send button. However, Google introduced a simple solution to this problem years ago.
Gmail’s Undo Send feature allows users to recall a sent email immediately, giving them the opportunity to correct mistakes or prevent it from being delivered to the wrong recipient.
The feature was first introduced in 2009 as part of Gmail Labs and became a permanent feature available to all users in 2015. Despite this, many users are still unaware of its existence.
Immediately after sending an email, an Undo option appears at the bottom of the screen. Clicking it recalls the email before it reaches the recipient.
One of the key advantages of this feature is that if the email is recalled within the allowed time, the recipient is never notified that it was sent.
By default, Gmail provides a 5-second Undo Send window, but users can extend this period to 30 seconds through the Settings menu.
The feature is especially useful for correcting emails sent to the wrong address, fixing typing mistakes, adding forgotten information, or canceling a message after changing your mind at the last moment, helping users avoid common email errors.
