Islamabad (Web Desk): Google Maps is used by millions of people worldwide, particularly on smartphones for finding routes and navigation. However, the app can also cause a phone’s battery to drain quickly.
Google Maps consumes more battery power because of GPS usage, graphics processing and the screen remaining continuously lit while displaying directions.
However, even people who rarely use the app may experience rapid battery drain. One common reason is allowing the app to access location services at all times.
If Google Maps has permission to access location data in the background, it may continue tracking a user’s position even when the app is closed, potentially increasing battery consumption.
