Islamabad (Web Desk): Astronomers have discovered a white dwarf star that may appear green to the human eye. A new study has examined the distinctive characteristics of this unusual star.
According to experts, the colour of stars generally depends on their temperature, with most appearing orange, white or blue. White dwarfs are the remnants of stars similar to the Sun, but elements present in their outer layers can influence their colour.
According to the research, most white dwarfs have colours similar to ordinary stars. However, unusual physical conditions in the outer layers of certain stars can cause significant changes in their light spectra.
Scientists say these changes are associated with interactions between helium and other elements in the atmospheres of these stars. For the study, scientist Hollands and his colleagues examined 151 known white dwarf stars located within 20 parsecs, or approximately 65 light-years, of Earth.
