Karachi (Showbiz Desk): Renowned Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar defended actress Rashmika Mandanna against criticism of her Hindi-speaking style and accent, but had to quickly clarify a mistake of his own in the process.
Rashmika Mandanna had been facing criticism from social media users for speaking Hindi with a South Indian accent. In a post supporting the actress, Javed Akhtar accused her critics of having a sense of linguistic superiority.
However, in his post, Akhtar referred to Mandanna as a “Tamil actress.” Social media users corrected him, pointing out that she hails from the Indian state of Karnataka and primarily works in Telugu and Hindi films.
