Islamabad (Web Desk) — Director General of Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team, Dr. Haider Abbas, has revealed that Pakistan faced more than 400 cyber attacks during the current year; however, all attacks were successfully thwarted due to effective strategies and timely measures.
In an exclusive interview, while discussing the growing cyber threats faced by the country, particularly state-sponsored cyber activities, Dr. Haider Abbas proposed the establishment of an empowered National Cyber Security Authority to further strengthen the country’s cyber security system.
The DG NCERT stated that the country needs a strong institution that operates directly under the supervision of the Prime Minister and manages the entire national cyber protection system through a centralized platform.
He said that an empowered Cyber Security Authority working under the Prime Minister’s supervision could play a more effective role in protecting national digital borders, countering cyber threats, and improving coordination among various institutions.
