California (Web Desk): WhatsApp has started testing a new offline voice-to-text feature for beta users, which will allow voice to be converted into written messages without an internet connection.
Under this facility, instead of sending a voice message, users will only need to record what they want to say, which WhatsApp will convert into written text. However, an internet connection will be required to send the completed message to another person.
According to the report, to use the feature, users will initially have to download the required language package onto their phone, after which the voice-to-text conversion process can be completed without an internet connection.
The facility is currently available to a limited number of users on WhatsApp Beta version 2.26.37.8, and its performance and stability are being evaluated. Following successful testing, it may be made available to more users through a future update.
