35% of New Web Pages Show Signs of AI-Generated Content

New York (Web Desk): A new study has revealed that more than one-third of newly published web pages contain evidence of being written or edited with the help of artificial intelligence.

According to the Pew Research Center, approximately 35 percent of new web pages showed significant signs of AI use. The study examined records of around 500,000 English-language web pages collected over the past five years.

Researchers analyzed the text of the pages using a program designed to estimate the possible use of artificial intelligence in writing. Overall, clear signs of AI-generated writing were found on approximately 10 percent of the pages; however, the rate rose to 35 percent among pages published after the launch of ChatGPT.

The study comes at a time when concerns are growing among experts and users that automated systems and bots are increasingly replacing humans in the creation and consumption of online content.

Experts say the growing volume of AI-generated content and increased bot activity could make it increasingly difficult in the future to distinguish between human-created and artificial content.
