KARACHI (Pakistan News): Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party has never been driven by a lust for power and stands firmly with the country’s armed forces.
Commenting on the country’s current political situation, Memon accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of losing its government because of what he described as its lenient approach towards terrorists. He said that while innocent civilians and security personnel continued to lose their lives, the PTI founder kept talking about opening offices for terrorists. He added that instead of blaming others for the political crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI should review its own decisions.
Memon said that rather than serving the public, PTI had entangled the province in confrontational politics and was now facing the consequences of its actions.
He said the PPP believed in principled politics and strengthening democracy. Had the party been interested in power, he added, it could have joined the federal government by accepting federal ministries.
The Sindh senior minister described Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statements as disappointing, noting that his party itself had repeatedly been targeted by terrorism. He expressed hope that Fazlur Rehman would adopt a clear stance against terrorism and show solidarity with the families of martyrs and victims.
Memon described Pakistan Army personnel as the pride of the nation, saying the armed forces continued to make sacrifices for the country’s security. He stressed that national security and the sacrifices of martyrs must take precedence over political interests. He also paid tribute to those who had laid down their lives.
