Lahore (Sports Desk): Pakistani opener Abdullah Shafique delivered a remarkable batting performance in the second Test match against West Indies, guiding the team to a strong position.
When play began on the third day at Queen’s Park Oval, captain Babar Azam was at the crease with 84 runs, while Abdullah Shafique was batting on 107. Pakistan resumed their first innings from 266 runs for the loss of two wickets and were eventually bowled out for 387 runs.
During the innings, Abdullah Shafique displayed outstanding form and played an unbeaten knock of 160 runs, which proved highly valuable for the team and also achieved historical significance.
Abdullah Shafique became the first Pakistani batsman in 49 years to score more than 150 runs in a Test innings on West Indies soil. Before him, Majid Khan had scored 167 runs in Guyana in 1977.
Among Pakistan’s recent four overseas Test innings featuring scores of more than 150 runs, three outstanding performances now belong to Abdullah Shafique, highlighting his consistency and excellent form.
