Headingley (Sports Desk) — Pakistani batter Abdullah Shafique has expressed hope that the national team can regain control of the Leeds Test against England by taking early wickets on the second day.
Abdullah Shafique said the team would have to take the field with a positive mindset. England have built a good partnership, but the situation could change with the start of a new day.
He said Pakistan would aim to take quick wickets in the first session on the second day to turn the match around, with the wickets of Joe Root and Harry Brook being particularly important.
Abdullah Shafique said that if Pakistan can make early breakthroughs, the national team can return to the contest.
It is worth mentioning that Abdullah Shafique played a responsible innings of 61 runs in Pakistan’s first innings, but the other batters failed to make big scores and the entire team was bowled out for 171 runs.
