New Delhi (Monitoring Desk) — Rising unemployment in India has begun affecting the future of highly educated young people, while limited employment opportunities have raised questions over the government’s claims of economic growth.
According to the American newspaper The New York Times, around 40 percent of graduates under the age of 25 in India are affected by the employment crisis. The number of young people graduating from educational institutions has far exceeded the available job opportunities.
The report said that despite Indian families spending large amounts of money on education, they are struggling to secure better employment for young people, causing the gap between education and employment to continue widening.
According to Akshay Saxena, founder of the Indian Education Fellowship Program, the growing gap between education and employment is creating serious concerns about the future of young people.
Journalists affiliated with Bloomberg also say that finding suitable employment after completing education has become a major challenge for young people in India.
