Nairobi (Monitoring Desk) — A helicopter carrying tourists crashed during a recreational flight in Kenya, killing seven people, including five US citizens.
According to officials, the victims also included the head of Ecuador’s intelligence agency and his wife.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority said the helicopter was flying from the Loisaba wildlife conservancy toward Ewaso Nyiro when it crashed. The immediate cause of the accident could not be determined.
The US Department of State confirmed the deaths of five American citizens, while the US Embassy is in contact with local authorities and providing consular assistance regarding the victims.
