Global Tender Approved for Export of 108,000 Tons of Sugar

Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has given in-principle approval to invite an international tender for the export of 108,000 metric tons of sugar.

The meeting, chaired by Finance and Revenue Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, reviewed a summary presented by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

The meeting was informed that the sugar is held by the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and is part of the stock of 300,000 metric tons of sugar imported last year on the recommendation of the Cabinet’s steering committee formed for sugar-related matters.

The ECC decided that the entire process for the international tender for sugar exports would be completed strictly in accordance with PPRA Rules 2004.
