Lahore (Sports Desk): Pakistan’s leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has claimed the top position in the ICC T20 bowlers’ world rankings for the first time.
Afghanistan’s star spinner Rashid Khan has dropped to second place by a margin of one rating point. Rashid Khan had remained at the top of the rankings for the past six months.
Abrar Ahmed is the fifth Pakistani bowler to become the No. 1 in the T20 bowling rankings. Before him, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim and Shahid Afridi had also achieved this distinction.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz has retained eighth place in the bowling rankings, while Salman Mirza dropped one place to 19th.
England’s Jamie Overton climbed 47 places to achieve a career-best sixth position.
In the T20 batting rankings, England captain Harry Brook reached a career-best fourth position following a successful home series against Sri Lanka. Jos Buttler moved up one place to fifth after scoring 172 runs in the series.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is ranked third among T20 batters, while no other Pakistani batter features in the top 20.
In the ODI rankings, Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza climbed five places to reach 24th position.
