California (Web Desk): NASA’s Curiosity rover on Mars has captured images of strange marks on the Martian surface that appear to resemble human footprints while traveling toward Mount Sharp.
According to NASA, these broad and shallow, crater-like marks are unlike anything Curiosity had previously observed during its nearly 14-year mission.
However, scientists have clarified that these are not actual footprints and that there is no evidence of the presence of any life form on Mars.
According to experts, such small depressions and low-lying areas can naturally form on the Martian surface. Relatively hard pebbles or mineral nodules within rocks can gradually erode and disappear over long periods, leaving behind hollow, crater-like depressions in their place.
Nevertheless, the unusual shape of these marks has made them one of the intriguing discoveries of the Curiosity rover’s long mission on Mars.
