Lahore (Showbiz Desk): Pakistani singer Hasan Raheem’s popular Coke Studio song “Peechay Hutt” has been included in the soundtrack of Netflix’s new dance comedy film Best of the Best.
Available on Netflix since September 18, the film revolves around two childhood friends, Maya and Anjali, who become members of the University of California, Los Angeles’ competitive Bollywood fusion dance team and compete to win the American championship.
With the inclusion of “Peechay Hutt” in the film, Hasan Raheem’s music has become part of a Bollywood fusion soundtrack.
The song was first featured in Coke Studio Season 14 in 2022, where Hasan Raheem performed alongside Justin Justin Babies and Talal Qureshi. The song was released on February 19, 2022, while its official music video has been viewed more than 28 million times on YouTube.
The lyrics of “Peechay Hutt” were written by Hasan Raheem, while the song’s concept was developed by Hasan Raheem and Zulfi. Talal Qureshi and Zulfi handled the composition, arrangement and production, while Talal Qureshi also created the hook line.
In addition to Hasan Raheem’s song, Best of the Best also features music by other artists, including BLACKPINK, ENHYPEN, Hanumankind and A.R. Rahman.
Directed by Lena Khan, the film stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as Maya, Priyanka Kedia as Anjali and Hasan Minhaj as Professor Hamza Latif. The film’s soundtrack features Pakistani and South Asian songs alongside international pop and hip-hop music.
