Afghan Taliban Will Face Consequences if They Fail to Act Against Terrorists: Ishaq Dar

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has warned that if the Afghan Taliban fail to take action against terrorists, they will also have to face the consequences. He said Pakistan has only one demand from the Afghan government: to prevent Afghan territory from being used against Pakistan.

Addressing a seminar in the federal capital, Ishaq Dar made it clear that Pakistan would under no circumstances tolerate terrorism directed against it from Afghan soil. He said the Afghan Taliban must take effective action against terrorists; otherwise, they could face the consequences in the future.

The foreign minister said terrorism had become a major challenge for the region and the entire world. Pakistan had confronted this threat with courage and determination, making substantial sacrifices in human lives. Terrorism had also severely damaged the national economy, and the international community should acknowledge Pakistan’s sacrifices.

Ishaq Dar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, measures were being taken under a new strategy to eliminate terrorism, while law enforcement agencies continued their operations. According to him, Pakistan had sacrificed more than 90,000 lives in the war against terrorism, making it essential for all provinces to play their part in addressing this challenge.

He said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was determined to eliminate terrorism and that, under his directives, operations against terrorists were being conducted daily. Pakistan had consistently urged Afghan authorities not to allow their territory to be used for terrorism. Pakistan had also undertaken visits to Afghanistan to discuss the issue.

According to the deputy prime minister, a trilateral meeting involving Pakistan, China and Afghanistan was held in Kabul in August 2025. However, he said Afghan authorities had failed to fulfil their commitments regarding terrorism.

He stated that the presence of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist organisations in Afghanistan posed a threat to peace throughout the region. Terrorists crossing the border were targeting Pakistani security personnel and civilians.

Ishaq Dar demanded an end to attacks on Pakistan launched from Afghan territory and called for a halt to the targeting of unarmed Pakistani civilians.

He claimed that plans to hijack the Jaffar Express had also been made on Afghan soil. He said the Afghan Taliban government must immediately stop providing terrorists with weapons and all other forms of assistance.

The foreign minister said terrorism had damaged Pakistan’s international image and reputation. After consultations with all provinces and relevant stakeholders, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the Vision Azm-e-Istehkam, aimed at comprehensively eliminating terrorism, including addressing its root causes.

He stressed that every institution must fulfil its responsibilities and that the federal and provincial governments must work together.

Ishaq Dar reiterated that Pakistan was committed to completely eliminating terrorism and had consistently kept the international community informed about its operations. He said taking action against terrorists was also in Afghanistan’s own interest, urging the Afghan government to play a serious role in addressing the issue.

Remarks Regarding India

Speaking about India, the deputy prime minister said the world knew that Kulbhushan Jadhav had been involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan. He alleged that India sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.
