LONDON (Web Desk): Sir Ken McCallum, head of Britain’s intelligence agency MI5, has warned that artificial intelligence is creating new challenges for the United Kingdom’s national security, adding that terrorists could use the technology in attempts to develop deadly biological weapons.
According to Sir Ken McCallum, Britain has established a dedicated centre to assess potential threats arising from artificial intelligence. He said the country was facing, for the first time, risks that could exceed the capabilities of human intelligence.
The MI5 chief revealed that security cases involving hostile states had increased fourfold over the past decade, while several arrests had also been made during the preceding two weeks.
He described Russia as the biggest security threat to Britain, saying Russian spies and groups supported by Moscow were targeting the UK and its allied countries.
