New York (Web Desk) — Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone Duo on September 9, but instead of reducing the prices of older iPhones alongside the new models, it increased them.
The company has quietly raised the prices of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air by $100 each, making some older models more expensive than they were at launch.
This year, Apple set the prices of the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro Max $100 higher than last year’s models, while older phones have also been made more expensive in the same manner.
Before the September 9 event, the iPhone 16 was priced at $699, a price set after the launch of the iPhone 17 last year. It will now be available again for $799, which was the iPhone 16’s launch price in 2024.
The iPhone 17e, introduced in March at $599, has now increased by $100 to $699, while the iPhone 17, launched last September at $799, will now be sold for $899.
Similarly, the price of the iPhone Air has been increased from $999 to $1,099.
According to the report, the main reason for the price increases is the rising cost of chips and other components, a trend that Apple’s former Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook had also indicated some time ago.
