Bruno Rodríguez Says US Has No Right to Restrict Trade with Cuba

Havana (Monitoring Desk) — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has said that the United States has no authority to decide which countries or companies can trade with Cuba, invest there, or provide assistance to its people.

According to international media reports, Bruno Rodríguez said in a statement posted on the social media platform X yesterday that the United States also has no moral authority to determine what is lawful under international law and the principles of free trade.

He said that those who consider American actions legal are participating in the collective punishment of the Cuban people. He added that the United States has no right to restrict trade in fuel and other goods with Cuba.

The Cuban foreign minister also criticised American actions against the ships and resources of other countries. He said the United States had no authority to impose a naval blockade, cut off energy supplies, stop or search ships on the high seas, or take action against individuals in international waters on the basis of suspicions of alleged illicit activities.

Bruno Rodríguez rejected any attempt to seize the resources or sovereign territories of other countries, saying that Cuba’s position was based on truth and reason, and that American arguments could not justify such actions.
