Businesses Pocketing Consumer Taxes Do Not Deserve Relief: PM

Islamabad (Pakistan News): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that businesses collecting taxes from consumers and pocketing the money do not deserve any form of relief. He added that the government would take all necessary measures to realise the full potential of tax revenue.

Chairing a review meeting on Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reforms, the prime minister said effective measures were being taken to improve the tax system and ensure the full collection of revenue.

He explained that, under a tax monitoring system operating without direct human intervention, cameras were being used to make the monitoring of production activities more effective.

Meanwhile, during a meeting concerning the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), the prime minister directed that the total value of loans for businesses be increased from Rs1.1 trillion to Rs2.2 trillion by 2028.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also instructed SMEDA to develop a comprehensive plan to inform business owners about the procedures for obtaining loans, enabling small and medium-sized enterprises to gain better access to financing facilities.
