Lahore (Sports Desk): National cricket team opener Saim Ayub has said that off-season camps play an important role in improving players’ performance and enhancing their abilities.
Speaking to the media, Saim Ayub said that he always tries to prepare better so he can deliver a good performance on the field.
He said that performances in T20 and ODI cricket should be viewed separately, and if performance in one format is not according to expectations, it does not mean that performance in another format will also be poor.
The national batsman said that he does not think he has gone through any very bad phase for the team, adding that he has always tried to perform well and that has remained his goal.
Saim Ayub said pressure always exists, whether a player performs or not; however, positive pressure can be beneficial for delivering good performances.
He said whether people call him an all-rounder or assign him another role, he focuses on playing according to the team’s needs and his assigned responsibility.
He said he joined the camp late because his rehabilitation process was ongoing, but he has continued his preparations as he had missed some activities of the camp.
Saim Ayub said he does not think about competition and instead focuses on improving his own performance. He added that the cricket schedule has increased, and players now have to manage their workload more effectively themselves.
He further said that senior players have always guided him like a younger brother.
The national cricketer said that the real difficult time is when a player does not have facilities available, whereas he has access to all facilities and always tries to give his best performance.
