Peshawar (Pakistan Khabar): Prime Minister’s Adviser on Interior Pervez Khattak has said misleading propaganda is being spread about the displacement of people from terrorism-hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that limited-scale operations will be conducted in specific areas.
Speaking to ARY News in Peshawar, Khattak said terrorism had increased in 12 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal government wanted to eliminate the threat. He said the main purpose of imposing an emergency in the province was also to bring terrorism under control.
He explained that the 12 designated districts were not linked to administrative units and that limited operations would be carried out in specific areas. However, he stressed that no one would be displaced.
Khattak said controlling terrorism would not be possible without the provincial government’s cooperation. He described governor’s rule and the imposition of an emergency as consequences of PTI’s own mistakes, adding that he had repeatedly advised party leaders to manage the situation themselves and resolve the problems.
He said problems could be resolved through dialogue rather than threats. According to Khattak, neither of PTI’s two governments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had a vision or a clear direction. However, he expressed hope that the situation would now improve and produce positive results.
The prime minister’s adviser said he stood with the governor and would extend whatever support he could. He added that arrests were made during governor’s rule and emergencies, claiming that PTI had created the circumstances that led to the current situation.
