Islamabad (Pakistan Khabar): Questions were raised about opposition leader Mahmood Achakzai’s role during a joint parliamentary party meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), while Senate opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas was praised.
According to sources, PTI members argued during the meeting that Mahmood Achakzai speaks of principles when it comes to PTI founder Imran Khan, but acted differently in his own son’s case.
The members said that when Achakzai’s son was arrested in Kharian during a protest a few months ago, he appealed to Maryam Nawaz and the Sharif brothers for his release and remained in Lahore until his son was freed.
According to sources, members questioned why Achakzai describes the government as a product of Form 47 in Imran Khan’s case but does not engage with the government to secure the PTI founder’s medical treatment, meetings with him or his release.
Sources also said that a senior PTI member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had prepared a press release before the meeting. Parliamentarians objected, saying that the statement issued after the meeting should reflect the discussions held during it.
