California (Monitoring Desk): In the US state of California, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha have been formally incorporated into state law. Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Assembly Bill AB 2017, under which eligible state employees will be able to use their available leave to celebrate Eid.
Under local agreements, public schools and community colleges may also close for the Eid holidays; however, closure will not be mandatory for all private institutions.
