Diamer (Pakistan Desk) – Severe flash floods in different valleys of Diamer last night caused widespread destruction, damaging several houses, crops, link bridges, and other important infrastructure.
According to local police, trees, water mills, and water channels were also destroyed due to the floods, while the Karakoram Highway has been affected at several locations due to landslides.
Reports state that after flooding near Gonar Farm Nursery in Chilas, the Karakoram Highway has remained closed to traffic since last night, resulting in long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
Women, children, and elderly passengers are among those stranded and facing severe difficulties. Passengers have demanded that the government restore traffic on the Karakoram Highway as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, relevant departments are continuing operations in affected areas to assess damages, remove debris, and restore roads and bridges.
