Germany make strong start, thrash Curaçao 7–1

Houston (Sports Desk) Germany began their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign in dominant fashion, defeating debutants Curaçao 7–1 in their Group E opening match.

Germany started aggressively, and in the 6th minute Felix Nmecha scored a brilliant goal to give his side the lead.

However, after the initial 15 minutes, Curaçao grew in confidence and put pressure on Germany’s midfield with strong tackling and quick passing.

Their efforts paid off in the 21st minute when Leandro Koemenensia scored to level the match at 1–1, marking Curaçao’s first-ever World Cup goal.

Germany regained the lead in the 38th minute through a fine finish by Nico Schlotterbeck, making it 2–1.

In first-half stoppage time, Germany were awarded a penalty, which Kai Havertz converted to make it 3–1.

In the second half, Germany maintained control. Jamal Musiala scored in the 47th minute to extend the lead to 4–1.

Nathaniel Brown added a fifth goal in the 68th minute, followed by Deniz Undav in the 78th minute to make it 6–1.

Kai Havertz then scored his second goal in the 88th minute to complete the 7–1 victory.

After stoppage time, the match ended with Germany securing a commanding win in their tournament opener.
