Karachi/Islamabad (Commerce Desk) — Negotiations have begun between the federal government and the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance to end the nationwide wheel-jam strike by goods transporters.
The government delegation includes Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Petroleum Minister Parvez Ali Malik, the Minister for Maritime Affairs, and representatives of the Finance Ministry. The transporters’ delegation includes President Malik Shahzad Awan, Chaudhry Qamar Zaman Gul, Malik Shabbir Khan, Nisar Hussain Jafri, Imdad Hussain Naqvi, and Chaudhry Owais.
Meanwhile, the nationwide strike by freight vehicles entered its third day. According to transport leaders, small and large goods vehicles from Karachi to Chitral are parked on roads.
The leaders said hundreds of vehicles carrying fruits and vegetables have also remained stranded for three days, affecting business activities and the supply of essential commodities.
Transporters have warned that if their demands are not accepted, the strike will continue indefinitely. Discussions are underway on their demands and the possibility of ending the protest.
