According to the company, users will initially need to record a short selfie video while looking at the camera and following a few simple on-screen instructions to verify different angles of their face.
Google said that if a user forgets their password in the future, they will be able to record a new selfie video to verify their identity and regain access to their account.
According to the company, the newly recorded video will be compared with the previously stored selfie video, and access to the account will be granted once the user's identity has been successfully verified. Users will also be able to delete their stored selfie video from their account at any time.
Google clarified that the selfie video will be used solely for account verification and the login process unless the user explicitly authorizes its use for any additional purpose.
The company added that the stored selfie videos will be encrypted, and the feature includes multiple advanced security measures to protect against fraud involving fake images, manipulated videos, and deepfake technology.
