Government Withdraws PTRA Reorganisation Amendment Bill 2026 from Senate

Islamabad (Web Desk): The government has withdrawn the Pakistan Telecommunication Reorganisation Amendment Bill 2026 from the Senate. The motion to withdraw the bill was presented by Minister of State Talal Chaudhry during the Senate session.

According to Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the 90-day legal period for the PTRA Bill was nearing its expiry, prompting the government to withdraw the bill.

She said that if the bill had not been withdrawn, the matter could have been referred to a joint sitting of Parliament. However, no final decision had been made at that time regarding holding a joint sitting.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government would soon introduce a new and comprehensive PTRA Bill incorporating all necessary and fundamental points, so that the legal process could be completed effectively and without delay.
